David De La Peña

Founder · Head coach · Downtown Tucson

Strength & conditioning · Athletic performance

Verified credentials
  • AFPA -Nutritionist — AFPA
  • American Fitness Professionals and Associates — AFPA

David founded DNA in 2011 and still coaches most of its sessions himself. His approach is simple to state and hard to do well: one coach, one client, thirty focused minutes, every lift logged, and the next session built from what the last one showed. He is an AFPA Certified Personal Trainer and AFPA Nutritionist and holds a CrossFit Level 4 — the highest coaching credential that program issues — which he uses for one thing: teaching movement precisely enough that clients in their 50s, 60s and 70s get strong without getting hurt. His clients tend to stay for years.

Julien Arechaga

Coach · Downtown Tucson

Body composition · Programming for busy professionals

Verified credentials
  • Certified Personal Trainer — AFPA
  • Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) — American Heart Association
  • Standard First-Aid — NationalCPRFoundation

Julien knows self-transformation from the inside. Several years ago he lost 80 lb by changing how he ate and giving his early mornings to the gym — and the discipline that took became a career. He is a nationally accredited AFPA Certified Personal Trainer, studied at the University of Arizona, and is working toward his degree in Physical Therapy, which shows in how carefully he coaches movement. His specialty is body composition and programming that fits a professional's week.
